In 2014 the Xindao Vision2020 ‘Our best gift yet’ plan was created and introduce. We were the first in our industry to come up with such a forward thinking plan – our board recognized the need for a future-proof company!

We introduced the XD Apparel line of sustainable jackets and the first hybrid car was added as a lease car.

2015 was the first full year of working on our sustainability plan; we introduced our own QES audit system (Quality-Environmental-Social) with which we rated our suppliers.

We refurbished our office with sustainable materials and choices (LED lights, cradle-to-cradle carpeting, energy friendly equipment).
Our Printing Factory passed its first SEDEX audit with flying colors.

2016

2016 saw most of what was implemented in the previous year consolidated and become part of standard working procedures. We also switched to a more environmentally friendly Printer in Romania, to print our catalogues. They work according to high environmental and social standards.

Three major sustainable implementations in 2017 were the introduction of a shorter sea-transport route via Koper (Slovenia) cutting transport time and emissions.
The introduction of the i-Paper, a digital and interactive alternative to our paper catalogue. Printmasters reduced their use of chemicals by introducing laser engravings.

At the end of 2017 Xindao appointed a dedicated sustainability manager to be able to bring our CSR efforts into the future.

In 2018, to ensure third party independent social audits, Xindao became member of Amfori-BSCI. This replaced our previous QES audit framework. We introduced the label Eco+ a responsible choice to enable our customers to make a more sustainable choice in product and we issued the first Eco+ digital magazine, the first fully electric car was added to our lease car fleet and for transportation of our products from china a train route was added as an alternative option to air and sea freight. Last but not least we achieved our first Ecovadis GOLD medal. It was a busy year!

We renewed our Ecovadis GOLD medal in the 2019 assessment. RPET was introduced for our successful Bobby backpacks product range and we created more awareness among our employees by introducing Meatless Monday in our company restaurant. 2019 also saw our first Employee Survey, through which we gained better insight into Xindao’s performance as an employer. Importantly, we started the project of creating a new sustainability plan.

2020 saw a continuation of many of the previous implementations. We increased transparency of our suppliers by offering a filter on our website to select products from BSCI audited factories and we provided more information about social audits on our CSR page. We also made a fantastic leap to Ecovadis Platinum in the 2020 assessment.

COVID-19 had its impact on Xindao as a company as well, however we kept positive and continued working on sustainable projects, such as the Aware-tracer Impact collection and our new CSR plan and website.
